How do I edit report graph properties? (Native Reporting)
Updated over a month ago

Once you've added a graph to a report section, you have the option to change the graph type and configure its properties by clicking the green gear icon next to it. These include many cosmetic options that change the appearance of the graph, its axes, its values, and more.

Continue reading below to learn more about the graph customization settings available in Graph Properties.

Stacked

This property only applies to certain graph types, such as Bar and Column graphs. Green text will display below a graph's title if there are certain properties that are not applicable to the selected Graph Type.

Select 'Yes' under Stacked to place your values on top of each other rather than side-by-side.

Target lines

Click the + icon next to 'Target lines' to add a text field (you can add multiple fields for more target lines). Name your target line, then set a value to determine where it'll appear on the graph. You can click the black bar button to choose a custom color for the target line.

Properties

Click the + icon next to Properties and expand the dropdown menu to select a new setting to your graph. Depending on the property, another dropdown field will display to select an option or a text field will display to type in a value.

  • Height: Establishes the height of the graph within the report in pixels.

  • Rounded Corners: Rounds out the default squared corners of bars in the graph.

  • Hide Values: Removes the value labels from the graph.

  • Vertical Values: Changes the orientation of the value labels.

  • Embed Values in Column: Places values inside the bars or columns instead of outside or on top of the graph.

  • Hide Tool Tips: Suppresses tool tips when hovering over grouped summary values in a graph.

  • Show Percent Sign: Adds a percent sign to numeric values in the graph. Only use this setting for columns with a percentage Data Style selected in Column Properties.

  • Symbol: Adds a symbol of your choice to values in the graph, such as a dollar sign ($).

  • Decimal Places: Displays a selected number of decimal places in numeric values up to however many are present in the data.

  • Abbreviate Numbers: Truncates long numeric values in the graph, typically up to two decimal places.

  • Connect Empty Data: Connects null values to other values present in the graph.

  • Label Format: Wrapped - Divides longer axis labels into new lines within the column.

  • Label Format: Vertical - Changes the orientation of the axis labels.

  • Label Format: Staggered - Staggers axis labels for visibility.

  • Legend: Position Bottom - Places the legend at the bottom of the graph.

  • Legend Position: Right - Places the legend to the right of the graph.

  • Legend Caption: Allows you to create an additional caption for the legend.

  • X Axis Label: Allows you to label the graph's horizontal x-axis.

  • Y Axis Label: Allows you to label the graph's vertical y-axis.

  • Rotate Y Axis Label: Changes the orientation of the Y Axis Label (if the label is enabled).

  • Y Axis Max: Allows you to set the height of the graph's y-axis.

    • Note: If the height is 3 or less, the y-axis will include decimal values. To display only whole numbers, set this property to 4 or greater.

  • Enable Y Axis Scaling: Scales y-axis values to the most useful range on the graph for the associated data.

  • Bubble Scale: Allows you to change the size of the bubbles on a Bubble graph. The default setting is 1; larger numbers create larger bubbles and decimal numbers lower than 1 create smaller bubbles.

  • Default Zoom Level and Center Point: Allows you to set a default location and zoom level on a Location Map or Heat Map that centralizes your geolocation data when running the report.

  • Milestones: Assigns 9 graph colors to various answers used in a Milestones field.

  • Subtitle: Allows you to add a second line of text under the graph's title.

  • Custom: Graphs within Apricot's Report Builder is an integration with a third-party software called FusionCharts. Custom graph properties can be added from the FusionCharts Properties document, though most custom FusionCharts properties have already been added to this tool.
