How do I copy an aggregate report or grid? (Native Reporting)
Updated over a week ago

The Aggregate Report Builder allows you to create reports that offer a high-level or summary view of your data. To increase efficiency, an aggregate report section can be copied into the same aggregate report or added to another existing aggregate report. An entire aggregate report can be copied as well. This can be helpful for the following reasons:

  • You need multiple grids for the same set of data sources.

  • You have a report or report section that meets your needs, but you want to experiment with it without disrupting the original grid.

  • You already have a report that draws on the forms you need for a new report, and you don't want to build another one entirely from scratch.

Follow the steps listed below to learn how to copy an aggregate report or report grid.

Step 1: Open the report

On the Aggregate Reports page, select Edit on the report you want to copy to open it in the Aggregate Report Builder.

Step 2: Create a copy

From the report's Edit mode, select Copy Report in the Report Actions palette to open the New Report pop-up window. This is the same window displayed when creating a new aggregate report.

In the dropdown field, choose which category you want the copied report to be located in. Then, enter a name for the copied report and click '+ Create'.

Apricot will automatically load the copied version for you to edit and continue working in.

Step 3: Copy a section or grid

An aggregate report can be made up of one or more sections, and each section can contain only one grid. You may find it easiest to build the first grid then copy it to change its filters rather than start from scratch each time you create an aggregate report. The section can be copied into the same aggregate report or added to another existing aggregate report.

Note: Copying an aggregate report section into a different aggregate report will automatically copy the data sources into the destination report. If you've filtered the data sources on the destination report and any of these data sources are shared by the grid you're copying into it, you may see differences in the reported numbers between the two reports. You can revert these changes by removing the data source filters on the destination report and re-building them at the row, column, or cell level. To learn more, click here.

Click the green gear icon at the top-right of the section you want to copy to open its properties. Then, select Copy.

To copy the section into the same report, leave the dropdown field unchanged. Otherwise, click the dropdown arrow to scroll through and select the other report you'd like to copy the section into.

Note: You cannot create a new report while copying a section; there must be an existing report to copy the section into. You can create a new report first, which will generate an empty section by default, then copy your desired section into the new report.
