What grid types are available for aggregate reports? (Native Reporting)

Each aggregate report section may contain one grid. When creating an aggregate report section, the report builder will have you choose a section type that determines what type of grid is created from your data sources. The following options are available: Single Source, Source per Row, Source per Column, and Source per Cell.

Continue reading below to learn about the different grid types and when you may use them in an aggregate report section.

Single Source

This grid type accepts only one data source or feeder report section to provide data for the entire grid. This allows for more simple cross-tabbing and summaries within the aggregate report.

The values added from the feeder report to the aggregate report will always be related to the data source's section count ("Total Rows" value by default). Each row, column, and cell within the grid can be individually filtered.

For example, this report uses the Total Rows count of a single report section but filters each row by a different program and each column by a different service type. As a result, each cell displays the number of rows associated with the various combinations of program and service type.

Source per Row

This option lets you choose a different data source or feeder report section for each row of the grid. Each row and cell of the grid can be filtered separately; columns cannot be filtered. This type works well when counting services or people served if the information is collected in un-linked or unrelated forms.

In the example above, the aggregate report section pulls data from two different Tier 2 forms in order to find the total number of rows recorded for family services across both forms.

Source per Column

You can select a different data source or feeder report section in every column of the grid. Each column and cell can be individually filtered; rows cannot be filtered.

The previous example also applies to this grid type as you can just display the different services provided as different columns as opposed to different rows.

Source per Cell

The last grid type allows for a different data source or feeder report section to populate data in every cell of the grid. You can add a filter to each individual cell as well; rows and columns cannot be filtered. This can potentially provide the highest-level overview of the insights you've collected across every report in your organization.
