How do I convert an unsaved record into a PDF file?
Updated today

Users may experience the following error message when attempting to save a record: "Could not save record. Please contact your administrator." While it's possible to resolve this issue by clearing your browser cache, doing this will clear the data previously entered into the record.

We've identified a workaround that allows you to convert an unsaved record into a PDF file for you to reference its data later. Follow the steps below to learn how to resolve this error message without losing your work.

Step 1: Confirm your record's status

When creating a new record, your browser's address bar will have "new" at the end of the URL. This indicates that the record has not been saved. The steps below are only necessary if your record is unsaved.

Step 2: Save as PDF

While viewing the new/unsaved record, press Ctrl+P on your keyboard to go into print mode. Next, in the Destination dropdown, select "Save as PDF". Click Save at the bottom to choose where you want to save the PDF file and continue.

Step 3: Clear your browser cache

Depending on what browser you use, you may need to follow different instructions for clearing your cache and cookies. Review your browser-specific settings, then refresh the page or return to your record when ready.

Step 4: Copy and paste the data

When you open the PDF file, you should be able to highlight and copy the data from its text fields and paste them into the new record in Apricot.

Select "Save Record" from the Record Actions palette and you should now receive a confirmation pop-up at the top of your page.
